Based in Saint John, New Brunswick, Fort Reliance is the parent company for Irving Oil and various Irving Oil companies, including the JV Canaport LNG, and the Irving residential and commercial energy business, among others.

We’ve been around for decades although you probably had to be a lawyer or an accountant to know our actual name - Irving Oil Company Limited - which sounded a lot like our operating company, Irving Oil Limited. As we began to be involved in activities outside of our traditional oil business, we thought it made sense to change our name to something different.

In addition to managing the capital invested in currently existing operating companies, we are responsible for acquisitions and the development of new businesses.

Our company has a long history and culture of relationships that appreciate over years and often over decades. We build capital by exploring, developing, and managing investments that create value over the long-term for everyone who has a stake in the company.
